Cricketers Finish with a Huge Six

Despite a slight hiccup in the penultimate week, the Cricketers Arms have rounded off the summer league with an emphatic 6-0 drubbing of Blue Bell and thus were clear winners of the first ever Joshua Dykes Summer League Trophy, which was presented to them the same evening. Captain Craig Hamilton received the trophy and thanked all his players for their sterling efforts, which he hoped would lead to a much more positive winter league season to come. At the presentation were Jason Bainbridge, Dave and Rose Blackburn, Keith Jones, and Rodger Maughan.

Runners up, and recipients of the Chance Memorial Runners Up Shield, are Barnard Castle Working Mensí Club. Their captain, Teresa Rogers-Walshaw was delighted with their second place, gained by beating Bowes Club 4-2, particularly in view of this being her teamís first season in the domino league. Third place went to the White Swan captained by Chuck Hughes.

Thanks are due to all the players and captains who have made this inaugural Summer League into a popular and successful trial run. The Committee is proposing to the AGM that it be extended to more teams next year, and be made a permanent fixture.

This being the last report of the season, would captains please note that the annual letter was issued at the start of July. Please contact your landlord, licensee or club secretary for details. For prospective new members the AGM is on Tuesday 20th August at Barnard Castle Cricket Club at 8pm.
